# Announcing MariaDB ColumnStore 1.2.1 Beta

We are happy to announce the beta release of MariaDB ColumnStore 1.2.1. Beta is an important time in our release and we encourage you to [download](https://staging-mdb.com/downloads/mariadb-ax) this release today! Please note that we do not recommend running beta releases in production.

Notable changes in MariaDB ColumnStore 1.2.1 include:

- Based on MariaDB Server 10.3.10.
- Non-root install now does not require sudo for the installation tools
- [Multi-Server quick installer](https://staging-mdb.com/kb/en/library/installing-and-configuring-a-multi-server-columnstore-system-12x/#mariadb-columnstore-quick-installer) and [Singler Server quick installer](https://staging-mdb.com/kb/en/library/installing-and-configuring-a-single-server-columnstore-system-12x/#mariadb-columnstore-quick-installer-for-a-single-server-system).
- Amazon AMI support for Instances with ENA drivers
- [Time datatype](https://staging-mdb.com/kb/en/columnstore-data-types/) support.
- Support for [milli and microseconds](https://staging-mdb.com/kb/en/columnstore-data-types/) in Time and DateTime types.
- Support for multi parameter user defined aggregate functions allowing development of more complex custom logic.
- Building on this, [distributed regression function](https://staging-mdb.com/kb/en/columnstore-distributed-aggregate-functions/) providing native SQL high performance regression analysis. The following functions may be used as window and aggregation functions: regr\_avgx(Y, X), regr\_avgy(Y, X), regr\_count(Y, X), regr\_slope(Y, X), regr\_intercept(Y, X), regr\_r2(Y, X) and more.
- Many syntax support improvements.
- Bulk data loading tool [‘mcsimport’ ](https://staging-mdb.com/kb/en/library/columnstore-remote-bulk-data-import-mcsimport/)enabling data loading from remote servers.
- Microsoft Windows 10 support for the ColumnStore Bulk Data API, Pentaho Data Adapter and mcsimport.
