# M|18 MariaDB User Conference Call for Papers—Now Open!

We are excited to announce [MariaDB’s annual user conference, M|18](https://m18.mariadb.com), will take place February 26-27, 2018 in New York City at the Conrad Hotel. Over the course of two days, we’ll cover in-depth looks at security, high availability, performance tuning and more with MariaDB, how to run your database on cloud and/or container infrastructure, new functionality for developers like JSON and window functions, plus tons more.

The [MariaDB M|18 call for papers is now open](https://m18.mariadb.com/call-for-papers)! If you are a leader in your space with expertise in operations and/or development and would like to share your knowledge with a global MariaDB audience, we invite you to submit a proposal to speak. We’re interested in the challenges you’ve faced, the lessons you’ve learned, and the best practices you’ve developed – use cases, success stories and strategies too.

If you’ve been in the trenches and led the way forward, submit a session proposal for one of the following tracks to share your experience with MariaDB:

**Technology:** the latest product and community innovations
Examples: extensions, features, plugins, storage engines

**Infrastructure:** a foundation for modern database deployments
Examples: automated provisioning, cloud, containers, DBaaS

**Operations:** the processes and tools for managing databases
Examples: high availability, security, performance tuning

**Development:** building modern applications with new features
Examples: geospatial, JSON, modeling, SQL

**Analytics:** unleash the power of data as the speed of now
Examples: data visualization, Kafka and Spark integration

Submitting a proposal is easy. Gather your talk title and abstract, then [submit it here](https://m18.mariadb.com/call-for-papers) by October 31, 2017. We will contact you in by mid-December once proposals have been reviewed and the agenda finalized.

**Sponsorships**

Did you know that MariaDB is included in almost every major distribution? Chances are that your customers and partners are using MariaDB. M|18 is your chance to directly engage with the rapidly growing MariaDB community. [Contact us](https://m18.mariadb.com/content/sponsors) to take advantage of early sponsorship opportunities.
