# MariaDB SkySQL Achieves ISO Security Certification

MariaDB is pleased to announce that we have achieved ISO 27001 certification of our Information Security Management System (ISMS) for [MariaDB SkySQL](https://staging-mdb.com/products/skysql/get-started/).

In this time where digital threats are widespread, MariaDB has [designed its MariaDB SkySQL cloud database (DBaaS) with the goal to deliver secure and reliable service](https://staging-mdb.com/resources/blog/mariadb-skysql-takes-a-data-security-first-approach/). Through third-party accreditation, we demonstrate our commitment to protecting customer data.

ISO 27001 is widely recognized in driving adoption of best practices for:

- Access Control
- Cryptography
- Operations Security
- Secure Development
- Incident Response
- Business Continuity
- Risk Management

MariaDB’s ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certificate was issued by [Coalfire ISO](https://www.coalfireiso.com/), an ISO/IEC 27001 Certification Body accredited by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB). The certificate covers the [MariaDB SkySQL cloud database](https://staging-mdb.com/products/skysql/), MariaDB ID identity platform, and [SkyDBA](https://staging-mdb.com/services/skydba/) service.

This certification process was a collaborative effort across MariaDB — from Engineering to IT, Finance and Legal — involving risk management, controls, ongoing measurement and third-party audit.
